ARGOS SODITIC announces the sale of JAYBEAM WIRELESS to Amphenol
Paris, 19 January 2009 – ARGOS SODITIC has announced the sale of Jaybeam Wireless, a worldwide manufacturer of cellular antennas for wireless telecommunications, to Amphenol, a US- based global leader in connectors listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE : APH).
Acquired in June 2007 at the time of ARGOS SODITIC’s acquisition by MBO of Financière Harlé Bickford & Co. (FHB), a family-owned conglomerate operating in the pyrotechnics industry and wireless network equipment, Jaybeam Wireless specializes in manufacturing antennas for mobile telecommunications networks. The company has production sites in France (Amboise), the UK (Wellingborough) and the US (Hickory) and is part of the holding company created at the time of the MBO for FHB’s industrial activities (HBE).
The sale of Jaybeam Wireless will allow HBE to concentrate on its historical business of pyrotechnics, in particular on the fast-growing market for electronic detonators, as well as to reduce its debt, giving the company a greater capacity for investment. For Jaybeam Wireless, becoming part of a large listed company presents considerable advantages, such as access to Amphenol’s distribution network, and should allow the company to accelerate its development on the global market for radiocommunications.
With sales of $3.2 billion and 30,000 employees, Amphenol designs, manufactures and markets electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors to a diverse base of clients in major technological fields, including cable television, cellular telephone and data communication and information processing systems, aerospace and military electronics, automotive, rail and other transportation. The acquisition of Jaybeam Wireless gives Amphenol access to the company’s portfolio of innovative products as well as to its presence on the European market.
Louis Godron, Partner at ARGOS SODITIC, said, «”The sale of Jaybeam Wireless to Amphenol is in keeping with the goal we set ourselves when we set up HBE, which was to sell off certain industrial assets when the right occasion came along. The combination of Jaybeam Wireless’s technical know- how and Amphenol’s global resources will increase the commercial and technological potential of both companies.”
